Frank Thompson

Birth of the San Diego Chapter of CSTC/ISTC

In 1975, Bob Spidell was the Society President of ISTC. Bob and the Board of Directors thought the San Diego community had the potential for a ISTC chapter. They designated Frank Thompson, a resident of San Diego and a member of the Orange County Chapter, to establish and organize a San Diego Chapter.

The first meeting of the San Diego Chapter with 30 members was held in October of 1975. Frank was elected president and within three years the chapter had 180 members - the largest chapter in ISTC.

At the Holiday Party in December, three of the charter members, Ed Dunn, Agnes Michetti and Ester Sabo-Yanta told stories of Frank's work and devotion to establishing the San Diego Chapter.

Ed Dunn presented Frank with very impressive clock plaque, the Founder's Award. The plaque was inscribed with the following:
